Saucy Details

If you looked at my post title and thought that you were going to get a risque story filled with scandal, I am sorry to disappoint you. While today's post is about the saucy details and how they can be the most exciting and the best part of a dish, I don't have any juicy gossip to share.

Instead, I'm sharing a sweet, spicy, and healthy version of a BBQ sauce I made a few days ago. And just like how no summer party is complete without juicy gossip, no summer party is complete without this sauce.

My Spicy Peach BBQ Sauce is inspired by a recipe from Gwyneth Paltrow and could go on anything from slow roasted BBQ ribs or chicken to a quick weeknight stir fry. You really have to try it; it's so easy, yummy, and perfect for summer that you really don't have a choice!

Spicy Peach BBQ Sauce

2 cups fresh peaches, chopped (about 3 fresh peaches)
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 - 2 chopped chili peppers, I used 1 large Hungarian Hot Pepper (seeds included for a spicier sauce or discarded for a family friendly sauce)
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Combine peaches, ketchup, lemon juice, garlic, and chili peppers in a saucepan. Season with salt and pepper and bring to a boil.

2. Reduce heat to low and simmer until peaches and peppers soften, about 10 minutes. Puree with an immersion blender and you're done!

3. Use Spicy Peach BBQ Sauce as a sauce for meat on your grill, a stir fry sauce, or anything else you like!

If you want to use only fresh produce, try substituting the ketchup with a tomato and a little sweetener if needed.

If the thought of ribs and chicken on the grill is getting your mouth watering right now, this week is all about summer grilling so stay tuned for some yummy grilled rib, chicken, and corn on the cob recipes!
